FAQ

What is Matrix?
An open protocol for chats and calls. Like email, anyone can run a server and everyone can talk to each other. Mesh is a client for it.
Do I need a new account?
Not if you already have one on a Matrix server. Otherwise create one on onmesh.chat right in Mesh.
What does Mesh cost?
Chats, spaces, calls, encryption and all apps cost nothing. Mesh Plus is €3.99 a month or €39 a year and adds the bridges, larger uploads, better picture quality and calls with up to 50 people. Payment is coming.
Who can read my messages?
In encrypted chats, only the members' devices. Chats through a bridge are not end-to-end encrypted on the way to WhatsApp and the others, because the bridge has to translate them.
What does beta mean?
Mesh works for everyday use, but not everything is finished. There may be bugs, and some things will still change.
How do my WhatsApp chats get in?
Through a bridge on the server, with Mesh Plus. Sign in under Settings › WhatsApp in Mesh, scan the QR code, done. The bridge brings in your past history too.
